About Our Special Education Program
The Special Education Program at Sturgeon Lake supports students who have disabilities or challenges that interferes with their learning. The program aims to educate students according to their individual differences and needs. This involves every child receiving an individually planned and monitored program in an inclusive classroom setting that allows them to meet their educational goals.
Interventions to support children to achieve a higher level of personal independence can include differentiated instruction, adapted equipment and materials, accessible settings and specially trained teachers.
Special education can include a range of support services, depending on the needs of the student. Services can include physical assistance and therapy, counseling, modified learning environments, assistive learning devices, or educational and psychological assessments.
